PRIMORDIAL BIJA MANTRA IS THE SEED OF THE WHOLE CREATION

Must read

The primordial bija mantra Om is the seed of the whole creation, the original sound which emerged when the Brahmāṇḍa -‘Egg of Brahman’ broke open giving birth to this Universe

The Divine in the creation of this universe, Om is the closest thing we have to the name of God and the most apt form of address to the Divine as the Creator

” In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” Bible, John 1:1

‘Repeating the Om continually is the true worship. It is not a word, it is God Himself.” Swami Vivekananda

Ik Onkar Satnam Karta Purakh
‘The One whose True Name is Om, Creator of everything’ Mool Mantra, Guru Nanak

Om may be considered as the pathway by which the Divine descends to the material plane, so it can also be the pathway by which we can ascend from the material plane to the Divine

Shri Gaṇesha is Oṁkara2 Swarupa embodiment of Om and saying Om particularly activates the Muladhara Chakra

Originally Om was referred to as Praṇava -’reverberation’ and only later called Omkara

The three letters A-U-M of Om are the three Shaktis, Mahakali, Mahasaraswati and Mahalakshmi followed by a silent half-syllable known only to Yogis , which is the Kuṇḍalini (Adi Sḥakti).

These Three Primordial Syllables AA, OO and MA represent the three powers of the Primordial Mother: AA represents the Existence and Destructive Power of Mahakali. OO represents the Creative Power of Mahasaraswati. MA represents the Sustenance or Evolutionary Power of Mahalakshmi.

These three Primordial Syllables later on form the Primordial Words – bija mantras – Aim, Hrim and Klim .

Om said on different notes, or with different tones, has different effects. Gnyanadev (Gnyaneshwari. Ch.7) describes the qualities of the different notes (like a peacock, elephant, etc.). Om may be chanted and meditated on for all Divine knowledge.

The three channels Iḍa, Pingala and Suṣhumna all start at the Muladhara Chakra . Saying ‘OM’, which is a combination of A (Left Side) and U (Right Side) has the effect of pulling down Left and Right

Sahaja Yoga we sometimes say that Pingala starts at Right Saḍhiṣhṭhana and Suṣhumna at Nabhi. There is a break in the Suṣhumna between the Kuṇḍalini and the Nabhi chakra which has to be bridged

It can be good to start meditation by saying Om seven times – it seems to automatically take the attention up through the chakras; or one may say it continuously for a few minutes. If we believe that we should start meditation (and everything else) by saluting Shri Gaṇesḥa then saying Om is one way of doing that .

Oṁ is the most commonly used mantra. After a while it becomes automatic and the
mantra becomes part of ones being. When we become one with Oṁ we become one with the All-pervading Spirit Primordial bija Mantra
